How to Distinguish FSTN Screen from STN Screen: The Chinese Era of LCD Screen:

LCD screens have become an integral part of our daily lives, from smartphones and tablets to televisions and computer monitors. As technology advances, so does the variety of LCD screens available in the market. Among the different types, FSTN (Film Super-Twisted Nematic) and STN (Super-Twisted Nematic) screens are widely used. Understanding the differences between these two types can help you make an informed decision when purchasing electronic devices. In this article, we will delve into the characteristics and distinctions of FSTN and STN screens, shedding light on the Chinese era of LCD screens.

What is an FSTN Screen?

FSTN screens are an enhanced version of STN screens, offering improved contrast and wider viewing angles. FSTN technology originated in China and has gained significant popularity in recent years. These screens are commonly used in electronic devices such as digital watches, calculators, and fitness trackers. The Chinese manufacturing industry has played a pivotal role in advancing FSTN technology, making it a preferred choice for many electronic manufacturers.

To protect the delicate organic layers from environmental factors like moisture and oxygen, the OLED module undergoes encapsulation. Encapsulation techniques involve sealing the display with a barrier layer that prevents the entry of harmful elements. Common methods include thin-film encapsulation (TFE) or encapsulation using glass or plastic covers.

1.

Color Filters and Polarizers: In some OLED displays, color filters and polarizers are added to enhance color accuracy and optimize viewing angles. Color filters selectively transmit or absorb specific wavelengths of light, resulting in vibrant and accurate colors. Polarizers are used to control the direction of light, improving contrast and reducing glare.

2.

TFT Backplane Integration: Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) backplanes are integrated into the OLED module to control the individual pixels' activation and brightness. TFTs are typically fabricated using amorphous silicon (a-Si) or low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) technology. These transistors act as switches, allowing electrical signals to control each pixel's illumination.

3.

Testing and Quality Control: After the OLED module is assembled, it undergoes rigorous testing and quality control procedures. These tests ensure that each pixel is functioning correctly, the color accuracy meets industry standards, and there are no manufacturing defects. Various inspection techniques, such as visual inspection, electrical testing, and optical measurements, are employed to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
